  • independent research into life in the "Age of Videography"

OCT 1999 - Present - Developing eco-tourism along the Pacific Coast

  • Traveled from Vancouver to Puerta Vallarta extensively through Baja
  • Handpicked sites suitable for bicycle adventures
  • Fully restored a vintage 1966 Airstream Safari trailer, learning electrical, plumbing, LP gas, aluminum finishing and woodworking.
  • Editing autobiography entitled "Down That Long Lonesome Highway" 
  • Finishing 150 page coffee table book/ebook entitled "Tour da'Maui"

  • Worked under the direction of  San Diego Superior Court
  • Developed report to revitalize "hike & bike" camping along Pacific Coast Bike Route which is currently under review by the California State Parks Dept.

  • Design of facilitated bicycle tours that emphasize coordination with public transit
  • "BikePacker Bootcamp" workshops on bicycle camping and "survival" techniques
  • Design and production of "Tour d' Oceanside" program for Oceanside, California.  Final details of the tour are now under construction.

1982-1996 Cruiser Bob's Downhill Maui, Hawaii

Founding President

  • Created and actualized the world's first downhill bicycle adventure.
  • Marketed the company globally using proprietary bicycle helmet-camera.
  • Designed and produced print logos, ads and all collateral materials
  • Built annual sales to $2.5 million per year.
  • The Maui bicycle industry is now a $10 million per year industry

  • Defined the word "videography". (Oct. 1972 - American Cinematographer Magazine)
  • Built the "original" Videography Studios, film production technique / electronic technology.
  • Produced over 2500 regional and national TV spots and shows.
  • Specialist in Ultimatte blue screen effects. Winner of 11 Monitor awards.
  • Videography has grown to a multi billion dollar per year industry in its 35 year existence

Significant Production Credits:

  • 1973-1974 Associate Producer and Assistant Director Under the Law a Phillip Abbot Production for the US Justice Department.
  • 1974-1975 Designed Quad split editing system first used on ABC's Barney Miller Show and edited the first season of the series.
  • 1978-1980 Produced the award winning "Duke of Cheddar" commercial series featuring Jonathon Winters for Freeto-Lay.
  • 1979 Produced and directed 30 minute documentary on Kemp-Roth tax bill for Republican National Committee. The bill was enacted into law.
  • 1979-1982 Produced, videographed and directed the award winning Food series for Safeway Supermarkets.
  • 1981 Produced The Great American Beer Test series for Schlitz beer telecast live from New Orleans in the 1981 Super Bowl.
  • 1979-1982 Produced (& Directed some of) entire Sanyo "That's Life" commercial series featuring Susan Anton.
  • 1980 Produced & Directed 60 second TV commercials featuring Ronald Reagan and Gerald Ford for Republican National Committee. (NOTE: Bob Kiger has no political affiliation and was hired for his directing abilities only!)
  • 1980-1982 Produced Motown music videos featuring Rick James and Marvin Gaye, that broke first black artists onto MTV.
  • 1984 Produced & Directed "Cycle To The Sun", bike race and 30 minute TV music video show about the "climb against time up the steepest highway on Earth" for KGMB-TV, Hawaii.
  • 1986-1995 Coordinated production with (and appeared in) television feature coverage of CRUISER BOB'S HALEAKALA DOWNHILL, Maui, HI, including: Turner Broadcasting's "Portrait of America", ABC's "Good Morning America", MTV's "The Real World", several segments for "Entertainment Tonight", "The Regis & Kathy Lee Show", "PM Magazine" and score of European and AustralAsian shows.
  • 1984 Design consultant on Costa Rica Downhill bicycle adventure.
  • 1991-1996 Designed and lobbied for Maui's first Greenway, resulting in $3.5 million in Federal funding through the Intermodal Surface Transportation Efficiency Act of 1992. (ISTEA)
  • 1998 Designed "Tour d' Oceanside" a multi-faceted bicycle campaign for the City of Oceanside, CA
