Interior details of my 1966 Airstream Safari The original floor plan for the Safari is shown in this diagram. I have made substantial changes to customize the interior for my lifestyle.
As you enter my coach, this is the view toward the rear. All appliances are original and in working order. I got rid of the stock A/C because air conditioning is not needed at the beach and uses too much power. In it's place I installed a Fantastic Vent, which provides instant cool air throughout the coach.
I accessorize my Airstream with items of stainless steel/aluminum, including microwave and small toaster oven to the galley. I recently installed slate gray mini blinds throughout the coach replacing the original curtains. I also re-designed the side couch with a full queen size bed that folds into a couch. I now use a plump cotton futon that makes both the couch and bed configurations more firm. Turning around and looking toward the front, the unit has a plush futon couch/full sofa. Videography workstation provides free HD TV antenna reception, high speed internet wireless connection and a wide variety of modern electronic components.
Located next to the door, the window bookshelf fits above the Airstream table. The table retains normal functionality including complete fold up. It can enable a romantic dinner for two or act as a desk for my office. Built entirely of oak, the window bookshelf houses computer manuals and peripheral gear. The space underneith the bench is storage for film negatives and additional electronic components as required. This media suite is decidedly the most comfortable that I have ever assembled. Note the refrigerator only inches away from the chair :) Also please note that I exercise to keep in shape. ------------------- And now the photo you've all been waiting for: The Bathroom :)
