my puppy
" M a i - L e e "

Mai-Lee is a "hapa" which means "half" in Hawaiian.
My little sweetie is half Pug and half Pomeranian
Her official name is Maile, a Hawaiian tea plant, but nobody on the mainland could say it, so we had to put Mai-Lee on her dog tag to promote correct pronuciation.

She has mastered riding in my bicycle basket and kayak.
She also loves the coziness of our Airstream

When we go out together she sticks with me like glue
At Del Mar Doggy Beach & in Mexico she holds her own playing with dogs of every size and temperament.
Here she is as a full grown 10 pound "Pugeranian"

It would be hard to imagine a better travelmate :)

We recently did our regular walk through the Oceanside Harbor and that's when Maile met Elvis Aaron, a terrior chihuahua with attitude.
It was heart rending to see my little girl falling into a state of "love". For the record, Elvis Aaron is 7 years old and Mai-Lee is 6.

Time marches on . . . and on August 8, 2006 I went to court to preserve and protect Maile's ability to take walks and bike rides along the beaches of Southern California. We based our defense on the Americans with Disability Act and WON! Check out Maile in her new "Assistance Animal" vest.
